With his laid back voice, Black Pool came back with his 4th EP titled Just Love in Mar’20. Black Pool remain consistent with his style, all 8 songs continue giving his listeners a taste of the good sea breeze. Now, kick back and relax as I go through 3 songs from the album that I enjoyed most.
Black Pool’s Be Yourself surrounds the topic of being proud of who you are. Vibe of the music fits right through with his lyrics, talking about a wise old man reminding him to “Chin up, just be yourself”. Now, it would be interesting to see Black Pool doing an explanation about this song, why a reminder now and who was that old man.
You might be wondering how Black Pool got his inspiration or his style. Based on his biography, it was mentioned that he is a vagabond and grew up surrounded by weekend bonfires and surfing beaches. While all this could have contributed to chill music, he spent another 2 years giving surf lessons and playing at venues and hotels before releasing Just Life EP.
We get to have a glimpse of the more romantic side of Black Pool with the song Olive Juice. Now knowing a little more about his background, we could relate more about Olive Juice. It describes his excitement of sharing his new song with his partner, while enjoying his slow-paced life. Olive Juice was also released as a single in Feb’20 before adding to his Just Love album as the 7th song.

For the 3rd song, I recommend Just Love. Smoky voice accompanied by a steady chill tune, keeps your mind blank out and ready for some rest. This songs reminds me a lot about Cigarettes After Sex, and maybe he should do a cover of their songs.
