Waking up to morning like this

A post shared by Daniel L. (@dan.works) on

Here’s a photo of our legs waking up to a bright morning sun peeking into our room. We stayed in a place called Spyder Hill, tail end of Malaysia’s Titiwangsa range. It is only 20 mins from the Seremban town and an hour away from the busy KL city.

We posted this photo on our instagram. Then, our friends and family asked us how was the experience, how we got to know the place, what we did and other questions. So we have decided to about this 3 days 2 nights experience in this post.

Day 1 : Meeting the unique house

First, we found this place on AirBnB. We wanted to have a short getaway, away from the bustling city and experience the quiet nature. We departed on Friday evening straight from our offices and it took around an hour. It wasn’t hard to locate the place as Nikt (owner) sent us the location and some photos on how to get to the place. However, line was bad in the area so we sort of memorise the pictures to get there.

Stepping back into nature

Upon arriving, we were greeted by Donnie and Darko (2 overly excited dogs). Nikt came out to welcome us and gave us a little tour of his place. He gave us more details about the house after we settled down. He and his wife, Q spent 3 years on planning and building the house, mainly using some old wood. It had an open air balcony that links to their kitchen and living room as they both liked the nature. After that, Nikt helped us with our itinerary for the rest of our stay in Spyder Hill.

Spent my weekend at Spyder Hill to recharge my energy

In the evening, our dinner was arranged by Nikt at The Dusun. It was a 5 minutes drive from where we stayed. We picked a traditional meal, fried chicken and satay accompanied with peanut sauce and ketupat. We had a great time there but the chicken wasn’t cooked well in the middle.

Day 2 : Exploring the area

The next morning, Q brought us to a local chinese cafe to have breakfast. We were a bit late and missed the chance to taste their bao. But we had Mee Kicap and Roti Bakar.

Later that day, we hiked the Lata Berembun to see the famous waterfall, a local landmark. The forest reserve wasn’t open to everyone unless you have a local guide and Nikt got it arranged for us. It wasn’t too hard to hike with the help of our guide, Shah. Shah told us where to look and shared with us about the floras and faunas in the forest. A point to note was that our lunch was also taken care of by Shah and we had them by the waterfall.

After having dinner at another chinese restoran, we stayed home to enjoy the serenity and tranquility of the place. We got our books our to do some reading while the cats keep us accompanied.

Day 3 : Saying goodbye to Spyder Hill

We started our third day by going to the town to takeaway some breakfast. And we brought it back to the place and have it while facing the beautiful view. Knowing that we are going to miss this place terribly, we took some photos around the house for memories sake.

We definitely wish to revisit Spyder Hill some time soon. I mean, who doesn’t like to take a dump while having such amazing view.
